    a few weeks, to months.

but like I said, with the $8 promo code listed on the page, the PSU still is less than buying 2nd hand.

And you can deal with Newegg if the PSU is bad, goes bad, or needs to be replaced. Versus dealing with a 2nd/3rd party on a public buy/sell site.

Ok, if your motherboard has a x16 PCI Express Slot in it, the Video card WILL Fit.

You just need to make sure there is enough length back to front to fit the card, and make sure there is nothing in the slot next to the PCI Express x16 slot since the card is a Double Width Card.

This is the motherboard that is supposedly in your system:

Motherboard Specifications H-Alpinia-RS780L-uATX (Alpinia) HP Pavilion p6537c Desktop PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

It has a PCI Express x16 slot, and as long as that first x1 slot below it is empty, the card will fit in the motherboard.

ok, thanks guys so im going with the ones you recommended, the psu: Newegg.com - CORSAIR Builder Series CX430 V2 (CMPSU-430CXV2) 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply
and the gpu: Newegg.com - Refurbished: EVGA 01G-P3-1556-RX GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Fermi) 1GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
i am about to hit the confirm payment button, so this set up should run bf3 on mid settings with decent fps right? also as a side question, what is my AMD Phenom II quad core at 2.8ghz comparable on the Intel side (i3, i5 ect.)?

hey no big deal, I used to be a student part time, and bag groceries part time as well... well, bag groceries and operate the registers.... but that was back in 1996-1998.

Since then I moved up in the world, LMAO,

Instead I handle Produce and stock shelves, still part time, but at my pay cap... which really isn't that much more than Minimum Wage these days, as the pay caps for positions never increased after the Min Wage increases.

All I'll say is its between 10 and 12 an hour, with Time & Half on Sundays, and if I meet the requirements for Extra Holiday pay on certain Holidays (need to work 3 of the last 6 days prior to the holiday, that the Holiday lands on, so for example Thanksgiving, 3 out of the last 6 Thursday's prior to the holiday. And not ask off the day before and day after, and I get my extra Holiday pay, coupled together with the regular Time and Half Holiday, it comes out to 2.5x my normal pay.)

I also worked for 2.5 Years alongside that job, for Target, unloading trucks, sweating your arse off, soiling your nice red and Khaki outfit by end of day, stocking backroom, sales floor, etc, etc...

Now you want to talk about minimum Wage... Work you like a slave, as far as retail goes, pay is Sh*t, but at least with them you get decent part time medical benefits, and even full time medical if you work so many hours a week average.

was a good place to work for, coworkers and all, but Target likes their managers to be mindless drones and cold heartless slave drivers while on the clock. and then there's the crap pay.

Anyways, as to the GPU, aside from room in the case, we wouldn't have made the suggestions we did, if it wouldn't fit slot wise in your PC.

as to the CPU's comparison, it'd be comparable to some of the Intel Core i3 Dual cores, which sadly, beat most of the Phenom II X4's or at least compare to them.

AMD Athlon II and Phenom II's are probably more along the lines comparable to the Older Intel Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad CPU's (higher end clock speed versions).

Still enough for gaming and what not, but vastly cheaper than many of Intel's offerings.

Although now with Intels Dual cores performing comparable to AMD's Quad cores, the "Cheaper" factor no longer holds, as their priced similar.

ok, i recivied the gpu and psu in the mail and hooked it up but im having major problems! i hooked every thing up and plugged in the psu to the mobo and the green light on the mobo turned on as expected, i had my HD, gpu and disc drive plugged in, when i pushed the power button nothing happend, i re checked all of the cables and there all plugged in right so i disconnected my gpu disc drive and HD leaving only the mobo plugged in and hit the power button again, it turned on but the cpu fan went to maximum speed, then i plugged in my gpu and it all turned off and wouldnt start again until i unplugged the whole computer and waited a 30 sec and tried agian, same thing kept happening, wouldnt turn on when gpu hooked up and max fan speed when only mobo plugged in. i took out the new psu and put back in the old one and it worked fine (i didnt try the gpu on the old psu because it didnt have right connector), another thing is that the new psu doesnt have a connector that fits my onboard gpu. what can i do to fix this!?! thanks!!!

What? That power supply should have all the connections you need. It sounds like maybe you either overlooked one of the connections for the motherboard, possibly the extra 4 pin connector, or one of the connections for the new gpu.

the on board gpu has a four pin and the power supply doesn't, this is the least of my worries though, what do you think of it not booting? mobo: Motherboard Specifications H-Alpinia-RS780L-uATX (Alpinia) HP Pavilion p6537c Desktop PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

I figured that's what you meant and was about to edit. Its a 4pin ATX connector, your power supply has it but its an 8 pin connector that should split in two. Otherwise just use on side or the other.

okay, thanks! i found out i was plugging in the two connected 4pin in to my 6 pin gpu and my gpu 6 pin into the mobo 4 pin, what a n00b i just hope i didnt fry any thing. it works fine now! i just need to get a monitor that fits the gpu, i made another newbie mistake and didnt read the out puts on the gpu, i only have a really old crt monitor with an input it doesn't support. so i have another issue now, when the new gpu is plugged in it deactivates the onboard gpu so i dont get any out put from it unless i unplug my new gpu, is there any way i can get out put from the onboard gpu while still having the new card plugged in?

Ahh you got a refurbished card so it probably didn't have all the accesories. Otherwise you'd normally get one of these in the box Amazon.com: StarTech DVI to VGA Cable Adapter, M/F (DVIVGAMF): Electronics
