a way to pull video clips from preexisting clips online?

    Hi,

Is there a way to capture a short video clip from your computer (like say a short part from a youtube video or something) without having to film your computer screen with a camera? In other words, I'd like to somehow be able to record a clip from any video online (or even a screen shot) to be able to turn into small video clips. Is there a download of some kind of program that could do this or maybe some type of software cam you can buy or something?

There are various Firefox Addons or plug ins that can do this, and there are some specialized sites that allow you to enter the links for the YT video's that streams, then records the video and then provides you with a download link for the video, or audio stream of the video, in various formats.

I can't remember the names of some off hand, as I used to use them, but its been over 6 months, maybe 9 months since I last used any of these.

Look through some of these, and give them a try:

the ones I used to use, were no longer compatible with the updated versions of Firefox and were disabled, though I never bothered to look for updated ones, so haven't used them in a while either.
