    Backup Solutions?

    Okay Guys,

I got a question and our tech guy left me a bit hung here, so I am going to ask here.

Situation is that our tech guy no longer is providing back up services and suggested getting an external hard drive to back up all the computers.

    Main Office - 8 computers
    Office B - 4 computer
    Office M - 1 computers
    Office G - 1 computer

So it was stated to be it would be cheaper and more effective to get a external hard drive and network it to the Ethernet cable.

I asked so we can do this and also back up the other offices (B, M & G)? He said, yea, but it will be difficult but doable. Didn't leave me very confident.

So I am wondering what is the best solution?
In the meantime i'll see what kind of services that are out there for backup as well.

    Thanks.

With the different office locations, I would suggest using a service company that offers remote data back-up. It's the most painless, easiest route. Other than pain to the wallet, of course. (When I deal with local folks, I recommend StrongHold Data).

IIRC, if you want to get down and dirty you can set up a NAS and tell all the computers via the Windows backup (or 3rd party program) to mirror themselves to a central NAS.

I'm guessing the tech guy got out of the game because of the expense/hassle?
    Good job, friend-of-friends!

    Bullseye.

I'll look into your other stuff. I am thinking along the lines you are, looking for another company. Easier, less hassle and such, pay for convenience.

I'll repost back after my research. Thank you!!!

How much data are you trying to backup? What files are you backing up and are all the sites connected together (ie they can access each other) or are all the sites on their own?
