    Hardware compatability

I try to be careful in forums and post in the correct section. I joined because of my question here but I see there are various other section headers (post section headers) that I may have use for especially since my main tower is crashing with what looks like graphics card problem when gaming ...Anywhooo..My real question Hardware comparability I only have a few items selected thus far and am basically building a development machine ( app & web) with some gaming functionality and maybe some extension into basic music tasks and watching movies...

I will add elements to this post as I harvest them from New Egg.. but here's my starter list and my running question
Do these all play nicely together ??

    I earnestly appreciate all assistance...
If I have listed two towers (Cases) or two processors its only because I'm still debating which will serve my needs best and again earnestly appreciate all OPINIONS and insight regrading those kinds of choices Thank you !!

All the parts you listed are compatible with each other. The Z77 board will support either the Sandy Bridge processor you have picked out, or the Ivy Bridge CPU. Both are fast, with low power consumption. Sandy Bridge is more likely to overclock higher with lower voltages, while the Ivy will take a bit more volts. (thus adding a bit more heat)

As far as the cases you've selected, they are both nice. Case is very much a personal preference, so there really isn't much to say about those. They both have tons of room for anything you would want to fit in there, and have ample cooling ability.

As for the motherboard, IMO, that's way to much. Unless you need the Wifi, or plan on really overclocking, it's pretty unwarranted. You could save $100+ on a motherboard, and use that on another part within the build.

The GPU is one of the fastest on the market, with one of the best coolers. If that's what your looking for, you made the right choice. Depending on what your trying to do, it's very likely you could save some money and go with the AMD counterpart, the 7970. They perform very similar, and come in a bit cheaper.

They also carry an additional 1gb of V-ram, that would help multi display setups, or gaming at very large resolutions.

I hope you plan on getting a good PSU...

Other than that, I would save a couple hundred by changing my case/board choices,
and as mentioned above another hundred on the GPU.

Thanks folks, Power-supply will be researched thoroughly, I have learned that big wattage doesn't necessarily equate to being the best unit for the job. So I'm still researching. Case has arrived already and apparently needs an additional fan (220) purchased for it ( Grrr ) .... as for the MoBo I just went with something for the I7 since My old main machine is AMD I wanted Intel this time. Of course my main machine's MoBo died just as I ordered the new case. I replaced its old board Its CPU and Ram ( Previous was incompatible ) so I'm a little de-railed on my new build , but thanks I earnestly appreciate the insight.. I will read and read and read here for info on a power supply. I'm glad to hear the cooler is adequate, I don't really over clock, I game a little (FPS) but I'm a programmer and I really just need a monster machine for development and some audio mixing. I grabbed the awesome graphics card , because I'm just used to having awesome graphics. I will assuredly dual monitor this beast so that SQL management studio is on one screen and Visual Studio or Eclipse is in the other. Oh and of course Quake live ...
I will have to visit some retailer and see what mech games are handy once this is complete ha ha ha thanks again . Lastly -- of course-- right after I ordered my replacement AMD I hear a better AMD Processor is on the horizon Grrrrr! If I find out that it was only my old BFG graphics card that was bad and not the mother board heads will Roll !!!!

Yea I'm stuck on making this monster machine an Intel build. I did the AMD thing back in 2008-2009.

    follow up

Assuredly 'moar' research is needed but I was about to pop for another component for my new beast this is whats on my new egg wish list
COOLER MASTER Silent Pro Hybrid RS-D00-SPHA-D3 1300W ATX 12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Full Modular Individual Sleeve ...Model #:RS-D00-SPHA-D3
but I hear I need to research this more.

I additionally, vaguely, recall reading something about Cooler Master Power supplys sucking so I thought I'd just order my CPU first and ask here before ordering the power supply. I don't want to repeat the mistake I made by ordering my replacement AMD 8 instead of waiting for the trinity DUH

Thanks again folks Build list is the same just checking on the power supply

Take your own words to heart
"big wattage doesn't necessarily equate to being the best unit for the job."

You don't need anything near 1300w, you could run several of your builds off that thing!! The recommend requirements for the GPU is only a 500W unit.

Second, you mention an additional fan? You should have more than enough fans already in that case. Unless you were overclocking everything and running a couple GPUs you shouldn't need anymore than you've got.
