ok i am trying to run my own webserver on windows xp, i have a cable modem, roluted between 4 computers, the router is a linksys so it has a hardware firewall... i went under dmz host and changed it to my ip address, i didn't lose my internet which was a plus, but it only lets computers behind the firewall see it, and not like my friends at different places. please help, need this server up A.S.A.P.!!!

Did you set up the router to forward request to port 80 to point to your local IP?

You need to set the port forwarding on the router to forward all traffic on port 80 to that computers IP.

Make sure that you are modifying the port forwarding and not the access rules of the router as this can lead to everyone getting disconnected as you described.

As fro your local IP, what is the IP of that box? It should be in the form 192.168.0.x
BUT now 192.168.0.1. This is probably your router's IP

Ok, what you'll need to do is go into the routers setup and look for a section on port forwarding.
Have it forward port 80 to 192.168.1.100.

Also would oyu be so kind as to post a screen shot of the page where you configure port forwarding? (Just to make sure all is kosher )

Thanks
Jkrohn
