I have an AMD 486 DX2-80 chip at work. Plus, we have an old IBM desktop with a 486 - 66 chip in it. I am not sure how much ram and HD space it has, but it is currently running DOS 3.3 and has been doing so since i started working here 2 1/2 years ago. It is used as an Interface between different systems in our Hotel to our main IBM 436.
Pretty amazing that it is still up there moving right along. It is not a power house but then i guess you dont need to much to run DOS 3.3.

I've got a friend with a 486
would it be better for her to get opera or W98 browser?
Would W98 even be possible with only a 1gb HD?
She currently has W95 but only has a 1 gb HD
64mb RAM

IMO 95 runs faster most of the time on a 486. Recommended minimum processor is 90MHZ Pentium. I just installed 98se for giggles, and it was Slooooooooooowwwwwww!

Yeah...you might want to throw as much RAM as you can on it if your running 98SE on a 486.
