They are indeed memory (mem in the sense of storage!!)!
There's volatile memory and non-volatile memory.!
(one kind doesn't store info permanently and the other does.! )

Nonrefersh PC0.00000000000002 M(Magnetic)DRAM? 1x1440000? 3e7 seconds?

Storage includes CDROM, correct? CDROM is optically encoded binary data. Floppies are magneticaly encoded.

I think you answered your own question. "Those who can do, those who can't teach."

Maybe the teacher is testing ya all to see who reponds?

Edit: I have had past teachers state something lame just to see who responds and who is paying attention.

AFAIK Memeory is memory as we know it, the chips we attached to the mobo for it to run as well as memory on vid cards and such, but cdroms, floppies, and hard drives? ummm those are storage devices only and do not have memory on them...

I take my word back on the hard drives tho. Take a look at this page that I did search on google using terms hard drive memory.

This is what turned up.

http://www.tweak3d.net/tweak/harddrive/

Apparently he is referring to DMA (Direct Memory Access)

Edit Again : Now that I think about it, hard drives do somewhat have memory, that is what the page swap file is for vitual memory that resides on the hard drive itself rather than using up the phyical memory.

but not sure on the cd's and floppies.

Types of mem:

https://www.buymemory.com/memtypes.htm

HD, Floppies, etc. are used as storage but sometimes reffered to as memory also because of its different uses (like RamDrives, Swap File support, etc.!).
