Windows XP Service Pack 1 ??

Before I install the Service Pack, it asks if I want to "archive" it incase I ever want to remove it. Do you really think this is necessary? It's a 1.9 MB download but when I choose to archive it it looks like it might take up to 45 MB of space! I'd much rather not use up that much space.

So do you think I'll ever need to uninstall it later on? Or is this not necessary? Please help!

anytime i install a service pack and it wants to archive it, i do.

but if i have problems. uninstalling the service packs will just cause more problems IMHO

i would just for safe sakes

you should generally let the archive (backup) run before installing the SP. if you don't have any problems afterwards, then you can just go ahead and delete the archived folder.

Do it. I've had the service pack crash two systems. I fixed one with system restore in safe mode, the other needed a fresh install.

Hmmm... is it really even worth it? Because it said it would take approx. 75 minutes! So is there even any real reason to update to SP1? What does it do? I'd rather not wait over an hour for something useless.

75 minutes for the update, wow, mine finished in atleast 9 or 10 minutes.
