| 6 Color Printer - Suggestions? Fellow Members:
I'm in the market for a 6-color inkject pinter. I believe either Canon, HP or both have come out with models for $99 and less. I read a month or so ago that the market was such that 6-color (vs. 4-color) printers in the aforementioned price range was now the standard ...
In addition I have 2.0 USB and would like to take advantage of that as well, if printers do take advantage of that technology.
Any suggestions on a very good printer with a reasonable footprint? I'd like to print greeting cards, photos, etcetera.
Thx.

Avoid HP like the plague. They have the most exhorbhant per page costs on the market. This is even worse when printing photos. http://www.tomshardware.com/consumer...926/index.html
Canon seems to be the one.. not sure if they are 6 color or not.
My Epson Stylus Photo 870 has 6 colors...

Epson has 6 colors and good quality as well
personally I love my HP, set it to draft and not normal or good and its decent quality and from my 930 I can get 800 plus pages 70% coverage and I buy the carts for $25.00
I can live with those results and the speed as well |

Canon cartridges do not last long. I've been disappointed in the high cost of trying to maintain a Canon.
I've been using HP products for 14 years but the last 3 yrs, their products have gone downhill to the point where I can't recommend them. I got their first generation Photosmart. It printed great pictures when it worked. The cartridges were 37$ each and they would go bad after a couple of months. The printer also would not pick up the paper properly resulting in an out of alignment print. In addition, the print driver did not print out the correct size with Photoshop. HPs response to this was tough, that's the way it works and we aren't going to fix the driver. Not the company or the quality they use to be.
I've switched to Epson. The 785ex is a great printer and is pretty inexpensive. I got a refurb off the Epson site for 129$ complete. It is a 6 ink printer.

I LOVE Epson printers. Believe it or not, I first grew to like them for there speed with a simple reciept printer that my old job upgraded too. I upgraded my home PC to an 880 (which I still use) and love it to this day with great results. I can't speak for their 6-color selections, but from my past and present use of there products, I can say that I have had absolutely no problems, anf neither have my folks (who have a C900 or something model). |

"Wow" I am very surprised to hear the above comments - Epson over Canon & HP ... "Hmm."
I shall look at the Epsons. I recall a news article referenced in this forum's news section, but cannot recall the source. It appeared within the last 3 months, and noted the standard of 6 color vs 4 color, and the in-common $99 price tag. Had anyone else seen that article?
Thx.
