| Free Hard Drive Copy Software
Guys,
I am just looking for some simple software to clone HD's. Here at work we have uses for something simple, I don't need an expensive program like Noton Ghost (well actually I would like it, but boss and spending money don't go togther) .. I know some HD manufactures have utilities, but I was wondering if there was a free simple one that will work with all systems. I need to copy Windows2000 OS's. ANy ideas? Thanks.

I believe Ghost is included with Norton System Works, which can be had very cheaply. For business use, I would think you'd want to make sure you're using industry standard software. |

You would think so huh? As would I, the best I have is a copy of Norton Utilities 2002, which doesn't seem to have Ghost on it. Right now though, I am 99% sure there is no way my boss will order any software. Which is why I am looking for a free alternative that I can use to make my job here abit simpler.

You will need SystemWorks Professional in order to get the Ghost component, and worth every penny.

If you save the company $100 now but a system crashes and you lose even a few hours worth of data, that's got to be worth more than $100 in time alone (unless all your workers are illegal immigrants making 20 cents an hour).
Your boss is being penny-wise but pound-foolish (i.e., he's an idiot). |

Undead:
JMH is correct. All you get is a disk, but the Norton Systemworks
Pro 2002 OEM can be had for $18 + shipping($5) at www.DirectDeals.com . This includes Anti-virus/ Go Back/ CleanSweep / Ghost / Utilities. Includes one year of free updates.
I've ordered OEM OS's and this utility from these folks, and have been very satisfied. Folks around here like #9 Software(?) also,
but I've no experience with them personally.
Hope this helps.

(Boy, this "hunt and peck" has to go - where's Mavis Beacon when you need her?!) Yeah, if your boss can't spend $25 to safeguard data, it might be time for you to move on. . .

Good one SickPup - that's truly a bargain!! Gotta love that free
shipping! Thanks. I don't normally think of software when I think
of Newegg. Great deal.
The 2002 suports XP also, which is good to know.

I will definelty see if the boss-lady will go for those cheaper versions. I work as a support specilist for a very big company and my boss around here seems to think she looks better as long as she stays under-budget ... even if we have to go without.
