| Add/Remove Program properties blank
I have a friends PC here and, as the title says, it is blank. It is a HP Pavillion xi926 running Win ME. They have been experiencing frequent crashes and lockups. I did a virus scan here http://security.symantec.com/default...d=ie&venid=sym
and it came up with a JS.Exception.Exploit virus which I traced to BonziBuddy. I uninstalled it,well at least from the start menu. I know it is not all gone. But I can't get to Add Remove programs to uninstall the Web Compass part of it. Can I just delete the folders in C:/ProgramFiles and be done with it? Also one entry was left in the Start menu."Snood"
I edited the registry following Symantecs directions. What else is left to this evil thing? |

yes, get adaware and run it by all means to get rid of bonzi-buddy(real popular spyware)
and whatever else. there are other spyware detectors but this is a very simple app to run. antispy is good too. try that first off.

I will run it as soon as I can get it to work on this machine. I downloaded from two different sites but keep getting these error messages in Dutch or some similar language. "Konnte Daten fur 'Version' nicht setzen"
Can't figure that one out.I have the installer I use in my machine on CD. I will try that one |

Still getting the same error message
Any other programs I could try?
One thing about the Add/Remove issue, When I was installing Adaware, I could see the list of programs installed. But not when I go through the control panel. |

Download the version form: www.lavasoft.nu
But that is strange.
Try reinstalling Windows over the current version. |

Still the same message. I will try reinstalling Windows later when I can get the restore disk from them. Or can I do it without the restore CD. Aren't all the files stored on the hard drive in these PCs? |

I'd reformat & install 2kpro
Even if it didn't have a virus...
but i'm a lunatic, so don't listen to a word I say

| Thought about doing that except to put 98 on there.
Any other suggestions about either one of these problems? |

Yeah, I'd probably just reformat to 98.
Make sure you back up everything you need to. |
