Naw, stick with XP. It will be more stable than 98. 98SE works well for about 6 months, but after that it gets so bloated and corrupted, it needs a fresh load.

actually, it's quite the reverse, judging from all the posts around here.
seems like after 6+months, many xp systems need to be reinstalled. i had a win98 box for over 3 years that ran fine and i had tons of crap on it. the thing that did that machine in, was a d*mn aol upgrade...completely hosed the OS.
i do agree though that an xp box won't need to be rebooted as often |

I'd just go with Win98 if you've already got it.
It would run much faster on that box, IMO.

Just go with whatever you prefer, ask your sis whether she wants 98se or XP. If XP runs unusually slow on that comp (runs fine for me on a Duron 770 with 256mb of RAM) then use 98 instead, if you know your way around win98 better, then use that. Personally, I would say XP, but that's 'cos I'm too used to it over win98 now.

I think i'll go with win98se since its accept almost all the "c*ap" u put in front of it, and that i've used win98se a bit longer then xp, so i can tell that win98se will run a bit smoother, after the installation i just need to tweak the os a bit.
thanks all. |

I wouldn't do 98, but I am still partial to Win 2000 on my systems. I use it on all of mine, and they range from a 1.2GHz, a dual 750 MHz and a 266MHz.
It has the stability of XP and the low overhead and configurability of 98 (compared to XP)
(I know configurability isn't a word, but I don't care. ) |

lolz, i might just give win2k a try. I havent used win2k for more then a week, must i have to download all the service packs? what is it i need to d/l to get everything running smoothly, cause i've heard the fresh copy of win2k has alot of incompatabilities with software and hardware.

aznlurkerz | no win2k is bad you cant play on it (if your sister plays )
and i don't like it winxp is the best one for playing and BTW you can change the design in winxp to a normal win98 that's perfect
