Well, 2 years ago when I was jusssssstt getting into comps, I bought my systemax athlon slotA 950 from tiger direct. I didnt know any better...nor did I know at that time how to build a comp...heck, I didnt know how to format a floppy then!
But now I build comps to sell them etc...there no way Id buy a factory made pc now unless perhaps it was a Dell that I wanted to resell.
I can build them much cheaper with better (more specific) parts and less or no compromises.

I've bought four in my lifetime. First was a Tandy 1000SX (my first IBM compatable PC), the second and third were a Dell Dimension XPS D233 (for an aunt) and Dell OptiPlex GXi (one current UD cow), and the fourth was an HP Small PC 20 I bought here on TIMO traders forum for UD! All the rest of mine have been built by me (7+ over the last 10 or so years).

I have been in computers for about 6 years, but I am NOW just starting to get REALLY into just in the last 6-8 months, as far as wanting to build them, tweak them, and mod 'em.
I was going to buy my PC, but then I said "Nah" I can do it for cheaper by building it. A lot of you peeps here @ TechIMO.com talked me into too. | |
