    Power consumption

Does anyone know a site or script or know to their own knowledge what, roughly, each part of a computer uses (power-wise). I have a 250W and a lot of things in my computer and want to know about what I am running at.

    Thanks

If you want to use this PSU with the new Soyo MoBo and the XP2200+.. then its a No No..
Get a new PSU with at least 350W

You can check each part of your PC manual and they should mention the power usage (like:70W for an XP CPU depends also on the speed, 12w for HDD also depends on the speed, 1.5-2 w for a 80mm fan ....etc)

yeah 250 is definitely not enough.... at least 350 like Kenkun said..... and get a good one, enermax, antec etc..... don't skim on the PSU.

Hehe, yea I'm planning on buying an Antec SmartPower 350W. If I'm lucky a 430W, but chances are slim.

The main reason this popped into my head is that my PSU is running on it's last wheel because it's not enough to even run one of the two fans in my case. I found an old 1GB HD that I wanted to add into my comp, but I know that would be impossible with this PSU, but is it okay with a 350W?

I thought 350W was supposed to be able to do everything you could imagine!

I don't want to buy a brand new good PSU then it turn out to not even provide enough power.

joker you can be sure that if 350 is enough today, it won't be in a month. If ya have the cash,I would go for the 430watter. I'm sure you will keep upgrading, so more power in the future will be necessary
