ATA 133 experience? Maxtor still has 3 yr warranty!!!
I hope this hasn't been discussed already but I haven't found it by doing a search. I spend my time on Doc's Deals rather than here most often.
I noticed at Fry's today that Maxtor now has ATA 133 drives while WD drives are still all ATA 100. They have several large stacks of Maxtor drives in retail boxes, all with varying rebates and all ATA 133.
* What has been the experience with the 133 drives? Is there a noticeable improvement in data transfer or is it mostly a marketing ploy to have people upgrade?
I also notice that Maxtor drives, BOTH the 2 and the 8 MB cache drives say 3 year warranty ON THE BOXES. Has Maxtor backed away from dropping the warranty to 1 year for the 2 MB cache drives?

I've had my Maxtor D740X 7200 RPM ATA/133 40 GB drive for over a year now and it works great. I don't know if it's the ATA/133 interface, 7200 RPM, or a combination of the two, but it's much faster than the previous 30 GB 5400 RPM ATA/100 Maxtor I had before it. Here's a quick overview of their warranty coverage from Maxtor.
