Formatting CDRW

I have been unable to format a CDRW. I go to the drive thru my computer and right click on the drive, there is no option to format the disk. I have tried this on WIN 2k and now tried it on XP Pro with the same results, do I need a seperate progrma to do this?

what software do you have installed ?
Either Nero or Adaptec EZ CD Creator (or many others) can do it...

If you're on XP I think you can do it, but not sure why you can't do it... assuming you're using a cdrw drive of course

you need either adaptec direct cd or aheads INCD they are both similar if you own nero you can either install incd from the nero disk or download it from www.ahead.de for free .
then you can format the disks and use them like a floppy

Yes, DLA is also the same as InCD or Direct CD. DLA=Drive Letter Access--basically with this software installed you see the CDRW/DVDRW disks as a giant floppy and can read/write on the fly.

DLA is a propriatory HP software and comes with HP DVD RW drives.

Version 4 won't work with XP. Go to www.roxio.com and check the upgrades. Even the 5.X version will not work with XP unless you do the updates available free on their site.

mad1, I'd suggest you get the version 5 if you already own the version 4. The Version 5 of EasyCD Creator Platinum is compatible with XP with the updates installed. And the upgrade form version 4 to version 5 is not expensive. In fact sometimes if you search you can get it for under $30 but for that money you can also buy a new CD burner and get the latest version of EasyCD or Nero bundled. So maybe it's better to get a new drive just to get the software. The Nero package is excellent.
