GenuineIntel x86

Would anyone be able to tell me how you find out the processor speed of a GenuineIntel x86 Family 6 Model ? Stepping ?

A friend of mine has one, and we think it's around 400 Mhz, but who knows? It was a put together job by a company that no longer exists so we have no one to ask for specifics. I haven't had much luck with search engines.

Any help appreciated, thanx!

"WCPUID" from here , is a nice little utility.

It will give you lots of into about your CPU, mobo, graphics ...

Just click on the second link that says "wcpu310.exe", next to the "FTP Download".

Extract it into a directory, then 2X click the .exe

This fits on a floppy, so you can move it from machine to machine, and even just run it from the floppy. I burned it to CD.

Until the very latest, you can only measure the current speed, the intended speed is unavailable to software. So either measure as recommended above, or open the box and read what the fine print on the processor cartridge says.
