| PLEASE HELP!! Cursor Control (or Un-control)
Guys,
hope u can help!!!
I'm running Win98, Athlon 1.2Ghz processor, 20Gb & 128mb
Every now and again (though getting more frequent).....my mouse cursor goes haywire all over the screen and i'm unable to control it.......programs and applications open of their own accord and the only way out is to reset the pc.
The problem is intermittent, but becoming very annoying.
Your advice/opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks
D. |

Get a new mouse, your mouse cable is bad (Probably)
I've seen this before... IRQ conflic used to do that on old machines but know it's usually a bad mouse cable. |

not neccarly, could be the mouse accerlatoer is set too high. that can cause the mouse cursor to go everywhere. that can be tested and changed via control panel > mouse.
sk8er475 what kind of mouse do you have? |

Neo,
Have checked the mouse speed and seems to be ok, (well set at medium)......have got a really cheap and nasty mouse though...Safeway SW3D?????.......never heard of it..nor me....
I think a new mouse could be in order anyway...... |

| Hmm... before buying a new mouse have you tried cleaning it first? You see mouse `jerky' `movements are usually caused by dust debris accumulating inside your mouse causing havoc in the sensor rollers in your mouse; this in turn affects your mouse's performance.
I suggest cleaning your mouse first. Remove the ball from your mouse, clean it then look inside your mouse. Remove the dirt and debris that's accumulated in your mouse rollers (A cotton swab dipped in denatured alcohol will do). Oh yeah and clean your mousepad too Soap and water will do the trick.
Now if you're in the mood for buying a new mouse, it's up to you. Hope this helps

Also the second payload of the magistr virus causes the Icons on your desktop to run awayfromthe mouse pointer. probably not this particular virus, but maybe you have aqcuired a virus that is causing this behavior. does it do it all the time? does it do it in safe mode?
