I have an OK system right now, and I am slowly upgrading. The first thing I am getting is a power supply. I don't know if a 350W will be enough. A 400w and 430w are a lot more, so I hope 350w will be enough.
System: (hope this is everything)
MSI 6330 ver2.1 (bought in '01)
AMD Athlon T-Bird 1.1 Ghz w/ Retail Fan
1x 40GB Fireball HD
1x 1GB WD HD
256MB 133mhz SDRAM
LeadTek GeForce 4 4400
Toshiba DVD-ROM
Lite-On 40x CD-RW
Floppy
Creative Sound Blaster Live
56k Modem
USB mouse and Game pad
After upgrading I will change:
CPU ~ Athlon XP 2400+
RAM = 512MB PC 2700 Corsair
MOBO=Soyo Dragon Ultra KT400
I know a 350w can handle what I have now, but will it do okay after upgrading? Considering I am running everything I have now on a 250w...
Thanks....Merry Christmas |

IMO, 350W would be plenty for what you're talking about. BUT, more is always better! Just make sure you get a good quality PSU. Cheap PSU's often don't put out the wattage that they advertise. A good PSU that's rated at 350W will put out at least that, probably a bit more. Plus, a good PSU is better at giving good "clean" power. In other words, it'll give you steady 115V even if you have a voltage spike or drop. Hope this helps. Merry Christmas! |

Oh yea, I'm buying an Antec SmartPower 350w. I heard good stuff about Antec, and Enermax is more $$. Cool, I'm buying it right now.

Sounds good. I'm using an Enermax 431W. Got a good deal on the Antec? Where you getting it from? How much? |

Yep, 350 will more that fit your needs. A good Antec or Enermax would fill the bill nicely.
