| GeForce Video Card Not Showing Video
I was having a little problem with my taskbar, and when I tried installing new video card drivers to see if the problem would be soved, I was given a new problem. My video card will not show video past the Windows Loading screen.. I tried safe mode, and reinstalled the old drivers from there, but that does not help. I get all the way up to the Windows Loading screen, and then it goes all black, but I know Windows is loading because I hear the music.
When I plug in my monitor to my on-board video it boots up fine (As long as I take out the Geforce from the computer and then boot up) I have tried installing the drivers while using my on-board video but it doesnt detect the card because I cant boot up with the Geforce installed, so it wont let me install the rivers..
Anyoen have any suggestions??? |

Make sure in the BIOS that your video is set to VGA and assign IRQ to VGA is enabled. Also make sure that your on board video is disabled and all it's drivers are completely removed.

I have a Visiontek Xtasy 6564 GeForce3 64MB AGP with TV-out, and the fan on the board died. Do they make replacements or am I just out of luck and have to cash out for another card? Any links to fans or info would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry to pop on your topic, but I didn't want to start another thread and this seamed well enough place to put it. |

A good replacement for your video card fan would be a Thermaltake Crystal Orb. You can get them at HeatsinkFactory.com. The Vantec Iceberg works great too. |

| What sort of taskbar corruption? What mobo are you using? Some older mobos have a hard time delivering enough power to a GeForce card, causing instability and other strange behavior. Quote: Originally posted by Omega Red

| Welcome to TechIMO, Omega Red. In the future, I would recommend starting a new thread. You'll get more responses that way and it avoids confustion.
You might be able to revive the fan by blowing away any dust and manually unsticking the fan rotor. If you can access the bearings, a drop of oil there may help out as well. Otherwise go with a new fan/HSF. They shouldn't be too hard to find online. |

What kind of monitor is it?
Try going into safe mode and uninstalling all the drivers for the video card. Then, roboot and install the standard VGA device drivers. Then reinstall your detonator drivers.
It sounds like Windows is trying to boot to a display mode your monitor is incapable of displaying. If it were a crash, I doubt music would be playing. | |

I have a radeon and this happened a lot in 2k, best solve I found was to go into safe mode, disable the vid driver, reboot, install you vid driver, then mobo drivers, then directX, reboot, then enable the driver again.
you should be able to do this with the geforce installed.
As soon as the graphics was supposed to come up it would shut the monitor off. |

I just put a GeForce 4 in my workstation this weekend and had the same problem. It turned out that resources used by the motherboard for the pci slot number one was being used. I ended up putting the card in slot 2 then in slot 3. The card works just great in slot 3. I assume this is a pci card. |
