Links folder in Favorites?
Is it possible to permanently delete the Links folder in Favorites? I am running Win2K Server and have tried many times to find the program or service which produces it. It's not such a big deal, but I don't use it and have no real need to keep it in my Favorites folder. If there's no way to get rid of it for good then that's OK, I'll just have to deal with it. But if anyone knows why it keeps reappearing or how to stop it, please let me know.

Well personally I like the links folder, I put all my most used websites on the links bar.
Just can delete it.
I had one deleted it by mistake and had a hell of a time getting it back.
also from the browser go to View>Toolbars>decheck Links.
this will keep it from showing up on your browser window.

TweakUI allows for this folder to be added or removed permanently. Look under the Explorer section in TweakUI.
And of course, it is a free download from Microsoft.

NeoStarO1 - I'm not talking about the Links toolbar in IE. I'm talking about in the Favorites folder, a submenu called "Links".
Jach Hannibal- I downloaded TweakUI and there is no option in any of the menus to get rid of this folder. I looked at every option in Explorer, IE, etc. and found nothing. Am I missing something?

My Compaq Favorites WILL NOT STAY DELETED!
According to that thread, MS says you have to right click it and go to properties, then select hidden, This didn't work for me, I use Phoenix web browser now, no more probs.

I'm not sure if this works in the latest version of IE, but you might try it.
Start > Run > Regedit -HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar. Set the String value of "LinksFolderName" to equal a blank string. Open IE and delete the Links folder from the Favorites menu. It should stay gone. How do you set this laser printer to stun??

January 8th, 2003, 08:40 PM #8We are talking about the one and same folder, Its in favorites, I use that folder to hold all my favorite links I want quick access to. and yes it is deletable because I had a hell of a time getting it back when I accdidently deleted it. This folder also acts as a toolbar Links up top of the browser that can either be set to be hidden or shown.Originally posted by Kc2iLq

Actually even if you do delete it, it will keep coming back, tho I don't know what triggers it's re-creation, but I've deleted any connection to links in the registry and it still comes back.
Glad hiding it worked for you.
