I think that we upgrade way more than most people. If you don't upgrade often the pre-builts are the better deal. As we build more over time we accumulate things like extra cables, fans, screws and stuff. If you only upgrade every 3 years you don't get that stuff.

Also after 3 years there isn't much that can be used on the new system. Floppy, and CD-ROM. With a few maybies thrown in: case/PS, Harddrive, speakers.

So there usually isn't much money to be saved by not going pre-built.

the only pre built i buy are for neighbors. that covers the computer parts. so if something dies the neighbor or friend can call up the company they send in a replacement for free. ill help them install it. simple and easy for them on there side. 3 year warranty thru there company or try to get a hold of asus or some other site to replace a motherboard that you bought two years ago. at least with the company they see it as hey you bought with us on this date, your still in warranty. you say its not working? heres your RMA number and we will send it out to you. some manaufacture want to take the product in. test it and then tell you what they will do.

now if it is a pc for me i build is the only way to go. each has its pros and cons
