Disable auto seek in Winxp

Window seem to seek the media like avi or mp3 to find its length(time etc) when you open the folder. Is there anyway to disable it.

Yeah, there was a short .inf file to correct it. But I don't have it at hand, it's at home.

Actually, it issued the 'file in use' problem when clicking a video file and then trying to delete or move it - winxp would report the file as being in use and would refuse to do the task.

Sorry for the delay... I didn't have a hub/switch at home and it's a pain to take the crossover cable from the other computer and hook it up with the laptop

Here it is anyway, you need to put this text in an .inf file.
<start inf file here>
[version]
signature="$Windows NT$"

[DefaultInstall]
DelReg = Reduce.Reg

[Reduce.Reg]
HKLM, "SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{87D62D94-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}\InProcServer32"

<end inf file here>

I haven't done that inf file and, please don't ask for help if your computer blows up after installing the inf file. However, I've succesfully executed it on two XP boxes, both now willing to handle avi files without long delay.
