My subwoofer is broken!

Today, all of a sudden, my subwoofer just cut out, i checked all the cables and everything, and there all fine, but the subwoofer is barley making a vibration.

I was told that the amp is probably blown out, which makes sense cause it still works but very little, its now lacking the umph it had before.

Is there anything i can do about this? The speakers are new, but the store i got it from is too far away to return it. Iam going nuts without my bass, but i just spent all my money the other day on my DVD player, so i cant get new ones

The speakers are Cambridge Soundworks FPS1800, case that helps,

Thanks for any help, cause i really want my bass back

Here is some "related" tech support, it might help:

My Cambridge SoundWorks speakers do not seem to be working correctly, what should I do?

There are a number of simple diagnostics that may performed that will identify and resolve the problem that you may be encountering.
The first step is to check all of the connections, power connections as well as those from the amplifier portion to the speakers.
Confirm that plugs and jacks are firmly seated.
Ensure that both the audio source and the speaker system have power.
If you are in doubt about your audio source, try connecting a portable entertainment device like a CD or cassette player to the speaker system as a test.
Check the speaker wire for breaks or fraying.
Connect a set of headphones or other known working speakers to your audio card or other audio source to confirm that there is indeed a signal present.
--------------------------------------
All of a sudden, the front (or rear) speakers from my FourPointSurround speaker system stopped working. What should I do?

Several of the Cambridge SoundWorks FourPointSurround speaker systems have a wired remote that acts as both a volume control and a fader. Be sure to check the Fader ring on the wired remote to insure that it has not been moved entirely to the front or rear channel.

Also, check to make sure that you have the proper volume settings in Windows, you might have the volume/Bass set too low.

What is the make/model of ur Sound Card?

Also, check here for Tech Support from Creative!

Like jadison said... first check the wiring. It's amazing how many things are caused by a loose wire somewhere.

I assume you're using a powered sub. Either the speaker or the amp inside the sub could be fried. You could try swapping out the speaker with a similar one to see if it will still work. You'll need to find almost an exact match in order to maintain the same audio quality. Usually this means ordering a new driver from the manufacturer.

If it doesn't work, then maybe the amp is fried. Usually the output transistors are the first to go. If you're into fixing stuff... you could try testing the transistors and replacing any of the faulty ones.

If you're not technically inclined (hey... you must be... you're a techimo member !) then I'd recommend sending it to a repair shop if you've determined that a simple wiring error isn't at fault. Replacing the driver is somewhat easy... but doing the transistors can be a pain.
