Ok, I have a question...
I wanted to use my Television as a computer monitor for gaming, and watching DVD's. I was wondering if there are any inexpensive hardware that would plug into my video card on one side and plug into my tv's audio/video input jacks on the other. Something like an adapter of some sort...
If you have any questions... please reply.

what type of video card you have? some video cards have the ability to use the tv as a monitor. i believe its s-video out
also one thing tv as monitors is not a good idea. i believe the max resolution you can have is 800 X 600 or something about that, horrible for gaming and dvd watch IMHO

It's kindof funny, but I just answered a similar question if your video card doesn't already have TV-Out: http://www.techimo.com/forum/t50834.html
I'll somewhat echo GZ's statements, but only if your games require any amount of reading...
But playing games on a 52" can be a blast! And that's much better for watching DVDs on than a 19" monitor... |

| I was almost positive that this was already asked but I didn't have enough patience to look for it. Quote: |

| In my livingroom, I have a 45" Trinitron Sony TV, I was going to try it on that TV but I wanted to use it mainly for my bedroom TV. Quote: |

| Well I know that but I overlooked asking if there was another way instead of buying another video card.
I have a GeForce2 MX400 Video Card... |

I can appreciate you wanting a hardware adapter for gaming/dvd's etc, I have the same video card as yourself with output to a 28" toshiba tv (and a 14" monitor!!!).The only way I can run games/dvd's reliably is by changing the tv to be the active monitor and doing everything from there,which is a bit of a faf... Sometimes games will play straight to the tv,without me doing any changeover at all,but not every time. I wonder if there is a trick such as a hotkey or something that would work to make this easier. I do like the look of the hardware at the link above,but I just don't have the cash for that at the mo'.Good luck sorting it out .
sorry instead of active monitor read PRIMARY monitor

there are tv-out cards in every price range with s-video out,
for ex voodoo3 3000, and even with rca-output jack,
for ex., rage 128,, radeon 7000, etc. max resolution of tvs are
vga = 640 x 480, with a refresh rate of 60 hz.
