Upgrading my CPU(2)

I posted an earlier reply to a previous question. I need more information on my Mobo so I'm adding that on:

Running:
WinXP Pro w/SP1

I would like to change my current processor to one I recently purchased and would like to know how to do that and if I can even do that on my mother board. The new processor is a PII 450Mhz # SL2U7. Below are my computer specs.

If there is anyone out there that can give me detail instructions on how to change this out please let me know. Too much detail is not enough for me.

Never mind just relized its an AGP slot. You might not to post 2 threads about the same problem or the mods will have to lock one of em.

No, your motherboard has the 440LX chipset and will only support a 66MHz FSB. The Pentium II 450 you were talking about is on a 100Mhz FSB, so it would only run at 300MHz (4.5 x 66).

I'd suggest a faster celeron (up to 533) if you want to keep your current board.

If you want to upgrade more you'd have to get a new motherboard as well. Be sure you get one that fits your case, though. If that is a manufactured PC (HP, Compaq, Dell, etc), they often have proprietary cases and it can be very difficult to get a new motherboard for it. In that case, you would have to buy a new case too. It can start piling up, but it is worth it, instead of buying a new system, depending on what you use it for.
