Memory Tips/Tricks?...
Please verify if you can...
I was checking eBay for prices on 512MB PC133 memory, (would plan to buy from my local PC shop anyway), when I came across this auction...
http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=1302532357
Now I've read many tips on how to speed up my system and some tricks to help windows manage memory better...(never used any of 'em). This system reads 75% resources free while I was online & nothing else running, with 192MB PC100 memory.
Is this for real? Anybody know what he's talkin' bout? Or is this just a 5-spot to get info I've already heard?
If this IS for real, I could use this information on my other system to speed up photo's & graphics, with 384MB PC133 memory.
Both systems are Win98 OS. I've heard that anything over 512MB can cause screwups.
Any advice?

I doubt this very seriously, but if this guy paid that much, he's not too smart. There are many websites, including this one, where you can find tips/tricks/help/etc. on how to improve your systems performance.I learned about this information from calling Microsoft- and they charged me $30.00 for this secret
I highly recommend not paying anyone, esp. this guy, for that kind of help!
PS. this site is an excellent resource for tips/tricks/etc., also you may want to try this SITE , as it pertains to this thread.

Jad is right, definetely don't buy from this guy. This sounds like a scam...
I don't buy any of this kind of stuff off ebay ... or something that says "BUY AT WHOLESALE PRICE" and all that other B.S.
Something like these link below..

I have to agree that that guy is most likely running a scam. I would stay away from anything that is just a "TIP" or "TRICK". Those usually tend to be a scam. As a seller on eBay, I try very hard to "NOT" trick anybody into paying for something they don't need. I just wish other people there did the same.

Yeah...Seen quite a few of THOSE auctions, Mike. Kind of like buying a QUALITY stereo system from JC Whitney Co.!
(been there...done that...was just a kid!)
Really great site you offered me, Jadison, Thank you!
I wouldn't drop a fiver on this info, just so you know, but, refresh MY memory,
, on the 512mb limit for Win98 OS.

OMG
I just about gagged when I read that at Ebay, I am leary at buying anything from ebay, i have heard of too many people being scammed. Why would you go buy memory at Ebay when crucial is selling so darn cheap right now and with lifetime warrentys?

Ebay Isn't that bad of a place to buy from as long as your careful and know what your looking for...Gotta watch out so you don't start out bidding other people and pay more then you reguarly would for something.

(You would be suprised how often that happens to people on ebay.)

You hafta' check out your buyer/seller on eBay 1st! If the person seems shady or has lots of feedback problems?...walk away!
My wife is an "eBay-Aholic"! I myself have bought/sold items with no real problems! (slow shipping, lack of contact, Etc)
I like the feeling when an auction goes well, knowing that TRUST in one another still means something to some people!
Now...About that 512mb memory limit on Win98 OS? Is it true? Will my system start to react funny over 512mb?
Thank's

This is for XP memory tweaks. You can find other O/S's tips and tricks on the site as well.
That will cost you nothing. (unless you want to send money of course)
Cheers!

I currently use this software, but pertaining to your question on whether or not 512MB+ will pose conflicts w/in Windows...I'm sure WinME is the OS that's most affected by this.
The software I'm talking about that corrects any conflicts w/systems that contain 512MB+ memory, and also improves overall performance is Cacheman
Check that one out...

eBay is a real good place to buy from, as long as you watch yourself. I just got a Creative 6x DVD with decoder card, software, cables, &SB 32 sound card for $50. Works great. Just be sure you check everybodies feedback before you bid, and you should do fine.
