Hello, I am putting together a new computer and I encountered a problem. Everything is running ok, but when I tried to check how much RAM I had (right click my computer, system properties), it said that I only had 128MB of RAM. However, I installed a 256MB DDR RAM. What did I do wrong?
Thanks in advanced! |

Whenever you ask questions of this type, be sure to include system specs. (i.e. mobo model, CPU, PSU, RAM brand, etc...) It makes it much easier for us to help. |

Ok, I'm sorry. I have a MSI K7T226 Pro2 ver.2 motherboard, an Athalon XP 1800 CPU, and have a 98SE OS. I don't know the manufacturer of my RAM. All it says is 256M-DDR, MD AE128M DDR-7, PC266, 0218. |

One thing you might check is to see if the module is in the first memory slot.
I have an ABIT board that numbers the DIMM slots opposite, in that slot #1 is furthest away from the CPU socket, and It would only see 128 meg of a 256 meg module that I put in.
When I put it in the "real" #1 slot, the whole 256 would be recognized. |
