Optical & Mouse Pad

hey yall. i have always used an optical mouse on my computer, but of course i have used balled mouses on others. i have never really noticed any bad performance from just using my optical mice on a plain table top, etc. my quesion is, would any or a certain type of mouse pad help or would it not make any difference?

Most of any help from a mousepad would be only in the easier gliding rather than better tracking. If you feel like your "sticking" too much to your table top, consider a good mouse pad. Otherwise, I dont think it will help you much. A cloth pad will probably make things worse, so theres no point to using one of those with an optical (IMO).

The only thing I can remember my manual saying is that a dark surface will make it (mouse) use the batteries faster.

I keep about 500 or so "optical" mouse pads on hand, AKA- sheets of paper.

The only reason I do that is to keep the dirt/oil from my hands from making one side of the keyboard tray on my desk dingy looking. It's cheap too..

On the other hand, I use a cloth type mouse pad with my optical mouse because optical mice tend to be "lighter" feeling to me than ball-type mice, so I like the slight amount of extra drag it provides.

Hi there, I also use Optical mice exclusively, and here is the mousepad I use... its so good, it'd be the last mousepad you will ever need.... its just that great.

Its the top left 2 on this page, my wife uses the smaller one.... she like me, will swear by it
