registry...how do i ?

what im wondering is if it is possible to take an installed program, for example a game, and zip the folder it is installed to, burn it onto cd, then transfer it to another computer, unpack it, and make a registry setting so that it would think it is properly installed to the unzipped location. i have had a few games work fine when zipped and moved, but a couple say they arent properly installed and wont start.

well yeah, no-cd cracks and the like work when they are actually installed on a system, i mean i want to skip the whole installation process altogether, unzip a game and input a registry entry so it shows up as properly installed

well i can tell you that software usually writes its codes to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/software" or "HKEY_LOCAL_USER/software" although sometimes they encrypt the name and put it elsewhere. so i would check there.

EDIT: just to let you know it's not cool to talk about pirating software here, not to mention it's not allowed in the forum rules.
