Bits, Nibbles, and Bytes
learned something interesting today. we just started learning how to convert decimals to binary to hex(which i already had a sketchy knowledge of) but our teacher told us that 4 bits make a nibble. i had never heard of that before. it reminded me of the qbasic game. we all died laughing. we also started learning about gates, like and, or, nand, nor gates. very interesting stuff.

Just wait until you get down to the transistor level. MUHAHAHA!!!

The nibbles were a running joke in my computer classes... I forget who started it, but the women all loved it!About 5% of the people in the world can't think.
Another 5% can think and do.
The remaining 90% can think, but don't.

Who created the terms for this stuff anyway?!?
I mean, I can understand how they all fit together, like:
Bit and Byte were on a walk.
Bit and Byte, they loved to talk.
After a while, they loved each other.
Soon, they were closer than a brother.
The way they showed their love back then,
was give a nibble on the chin.
But, Bit gave Byte a megabyte.
And Byte ran 'till she was out of sight.
The last thing Bit could hear,
was something he almost feared.
'Twas this saying that was quite curt,
"I've got a Megabyte and it Megahertz!"
The moral of the story is:
Make sure your nibbles are in the right,
or you'll make your love run out of sight!

Too much time on my hands!!

lowrider, were already done with pnp and npn transistors. we havent hit on mosfets or jfets much but i dont think we will because this is only a highschool course.

Hey, that's cool that you're learning that stuff in highschool. Are you planning on taking an electrical or computer engineering course in college?
BTW, my comment was meant to be a joke.

lowrider, yeah i plan on double majoring in electrical and computer engineering at NC State. i know i must be a freak but i actually enjoy this stuff. i guess thats a good thing because a job as an ee or ce pays a lot and i also enjoy it

I'm about to graduate with a B.S. in Computer Engineering. It is fun stuff but it's also a lot of work. You'll get to learn how an Operating System works (maybe even have to write your own), assembly language, the basics of CPU design, and of course all that Circuits and Digitals stuff that you are already learning some of now. The double major is good in that a lot of the classes you need will overlap, but it is bad in that you won't *necessarily* make any more money for having a dual major. Whatever you do, good luck!
