high ping, and 100% cpu usage when playing games.

system specs:
p4 2.4ghz oced to 2.53
radeon 9700pro
soyo p4x400
sound blaster audigy 2

now i know that their is some compatibility problems between via chipsets and sound blaster audigy cards, but my system seems to be doing fine 95% of the time.
usually if the board acts up, i only have to reboot the system and everythings fine. (lucky me!)

that is until playing a game of bf1942, usually my ping is at about 150, and i normally play this game everyday.

anyways i was playing a battlefield and all of a sudden my ping jumped to about 500 points! i thought it was the server but when i looked at everybodies else's ping #'s they were around 100 and below. i did the ol' alt+tab, and check how my processor was doing and it said 100%!!!
i rebooted the computer, got into the bios and set everything back to optimized defaults, went back into windows and its still acting like this.
anybody know how this could of happened out of the blue??
i checked for trojans, and viri and found none (used some of the useful links in the "dont trust nav" topic.

btw: all updated drivers are installed for mobo, graphics card, sound card, etc.

Cpu usage being at 100% is always nrmal while playing any game.

As for ping, I have no lcue why it is so high. Is it just in-game or is everything in internet slow too.

yeah my ping went back to normal (stupid time warner)
so it is normal for cpu usage to be at 100% when playing games?? im talking about just about the full game its at 100,
seems a bit high.

I think games usually take up 100% of the CPU, if only to render more frames per second.

Yep, i think its pretty normal for a moderm game to use 100% cpu.

100% cpu time is normal.
So is high ping sometimes.

Neither of those is nothing to worry about.
