What is it about fast response time that so many web developers don't seem to understand? I prefer the initial page to any site to come up quickly, instead, in many cases I am supposed to wait for animation, crawls, pop-ups, or some other glitzy nonsense the developer thought was cute. Any more than 10-15 seconds and I'm gone. If I want animation, i..e, the inside of a house or car or furniture or whatever, please place a link on the initial page and I will click on it if I'm interested. I have cable, so when these pages are slow for me, I can imagine what they are for a 56k modem. I know I'm a dinosaur from the mainframe world, but the emphasis on presenting information to a user, in addition to accuracy, has always been quick response time. What's happened?
