RAM and system

Would there be any considerable performance hits if I used PC2100 RAM instead of PC2700 RAM in the following system in 512MB quantities:

AMD 2200+
WD 40GB 7200RPM 2MB Cache
GF4Ti4200 8X 64MB
XP Home

higher speed ram like 2700, 300, 3200 , and 3500 are mainly used for overclocking. if you arent planning on ocing, there will be no noticable difference betweem pc2100 and pc2700

If you aren't overclocking, no.

PC2700 Ram is designed to be used with fsb 166mhz, and PC2100 Ram is supposed to be used with fsb 133mhz. But the AMD 2200+ is a fsb133 processor, so if are not going to overclock the fsb to 166.

PC2700 Ram at a fsb of 133 will run exactly like PC2100.

i have 512 of crucial ddr ram with a 1600+ reading as a 1900+ with no problems at all so you should be fine.
