I Had that happen with my HP 3in1. Turned out a thumbtack fell inside and was just hiding just right. Once I got that out it was fine.
Have you check to see nothing is making the rollers not stay put?
How long have you had the printer?
When was it last service? (you can tell here I don't service my own printers. ) |

the pic was printed out from a jpg file from hard drive.
then i scanned it and saved the image with the lines in it and posted it.
so the lines were there after the printing, but were not on the original jpg image.
i think................ |

Investigating on docs post this here is what I found. HP All-in-One and Fax Products - Cleaning the HP All-in-One or Fax
Here is a quote of interst related to docs post if its a scanning problem as versas a printing problem. Quote:
Scanner glass and white scan backing
If you have any of the following symptoms, the scanner glass or white backing may need cleaning:
Black spots or lines appear in copies and/or faxes.
"Replace scanner cover" error message on the front panel display.
Special copy features such as clone do not work correctly
The scanner glass position and size will depend on the product.
Scroll-fed products have a narrow glass strip located under the front panel (see Figure 1) or under the scanner cover (see Figure 2).
Flatbed products have a large scanner glass under the top cover.
| Might be worth checking it out. |

I don't think this is your issue, still looks like a scanner not a printer problem to me, anyhow here's a link that MAY work..
free hp cleaning kit for your hp deskjet 600 and officejet 500, 600 and 700 series printer:
Eliminates black ink streaks
Maintains clear, sharp text
Fast and easy
There are two cleaning kits in circulation. Below are descriptions of each:
C6597AM - The original Cleaning Kit came with a CD and five template sheets with cleaning strips attached. This kit is not compatible with the HP Deskjet 610, 630, or 640C series printers.
C8717AM - The newer Cleaning Kit comes with a CD and six cleaning strips. The Cleaning Kit must be used to print the templates. http://hpcleankit.bgt.com/Cleankit.jsp?Lang=all |

Hi Doc,
I had found that one too But.......................... look at this quote. So really depends on his OS. Quote:
order a free hp cleaning kit for your hp deskjet 600 and officejet 500, 600 and 700 series printer:
Eliminates black ink streaks
Maintains clear, sharp text
Fast and easy
*Microsoft Windows NT, Windows 98, Windows 95, Windows 3.1
For other operating systems, please use manual cleaning procedures at www.hp.com/support/cleanprint | Im not sure how this one would work as his printer model isn't listed. v40
Also why do they make the kits if it doesn't support 2000/ME/XP? |
