I believe you..... I was serious when I said we got lucky I tried a NVidia card, and had no luck at all with it. Still not sure why....I sold it here on Techimo for a loss...........
The card I use (looking at the box now ) is an
ATI Radeon 7500 64mb AGP ........... I've used 3 of these now, all with amazing results. I usually install the graphics card and then install Mandrake. It recognises the card and it is configured with zero problems. Running UT , Quake, Chromium, and more.
I see what you mean about winex ....(I run 100% linux though...not even winex...so I'm not sure about that ... although cunokyle might have ran wine with the card) . I'm sure your right about NVidia being a better choice for gaming, I was serious when I said we got lucky I was just thrilled at how easy mine was. That and I know you and jkrohn are both more experienced with graphics cards than I am. I've used a total of 2 different graphics cards (agp) with linux, so my experience is very limited in this area. |
