I had Poproxy.exe error with my Outlookexpress and NAV. I found the fix for it, but along the way I downloaded a IE update.
Now, whenever I use my scroll wheel, this noise occurs thru my speakers. I don't know if the patch had anything to do with it, and I have heard it before. But, now its all the time. Very annoying.
Anybody know how to turn it off?
Intellimouse explorer
Win2k
IE 6
Thx

Check you level controls for your sound card outputs. If anything level not being used is turned up, especially the microphone, then often other activities in the machine can cause feedback. Turn unused levels down or mute them. |

Thx,
I tried that, but no go.
It almost sounds like it is supposed to be there, as an option to let you know you are scrolling.
I should have mentioned that when I heard it before it was only on certain web sites.

Wow. That's annoying. Have you looked in the the sounds section in the control panel? If it is an assigned sound that's supposed to be there then it's most likely going to be listed there. |

Yeah its annoying. Especially if I didnt ask for it.
I've discovered a seperate sound attatched to my start button, so you are right it is an assigned sound. I just have to find it. I checked the control panel sound assignments, nothing there,
I am starting to suspect Norton update, because they were the initial problem.
Hmmm.

its happened on all my computers only if I turn my volume up really high. Must be my crappy speakers, because I have an Audigy 2. |

OuTpaTienT,
We were both right. It was an assigned sound, I missed it first time. My fault.
Norton created sounds and put them in my assigned list.
Why would they think I wanted it?
Thx alot
