Fan modding and Cd-rom compatability
First question -- I'm buying a VANTEC AeroFlow VA4-C7040 for my new PC and read on a site that a guy modded it by changing it to 7v. Does anyone know how to do this and can you tell me how.
Second question -- I'm looking to buy a CD-RW and separate DVD-Rom. does anyone know of good cheap models that are compatible with XP. I am annoyed that my current DVD-rom stopped working properly when I upgraded to XP.

Not sure about the volt mod but Lite-on's DVD and CD-RW units are great for the money IMO.
Newegg (where else) has the 52x24x52 for $43.99 with free shipping
and the 16x DVD for $30.99 + $5.00 for shipping.

you can just splice the wires to into a molex connector and just use the yellow wire(+12V) and the red wire(+5volts) for a total of 7volts dont know why you would want to do that it would just spin slower if you want to do that i would just use a resistor or a potentiameter.

i want to go 7v because i've read review of this heatsink that says at the cost of 3C degrees the fan gets drastically quieter.See the lights Blinking on your Modem? Thats me Hacking you! - adapted from an IRC log.

well you can go the wire route which is pretty easy and the pot. isnt to bad either and you can change the speed with the Pot.
