HOLY CHRIST!! $3000?!?!?!
SCREW alienware if thats how much you are willing to spend, you can get bells, whistles, hell, even get a whole freaking reindeer sleigh for that. Here's my system, I paid around $2200 for it, there are only a few things that I really still want, pardon if the names arent exactly right, im postin from work.
AMD Athlon XP 2800+
Epox 8k9a3+ Mobo
Vantec Magnetic Tip Fan (silent, keeps it cool)
RAIDMAX Scorpio 668 Silver Case
Antec 550 SilentPower Powersupply
1gig Crucial PC3200
2 x 60g IBM 7200 rpm 4 mg cache
2 x 120g Western Digital 7200 rpm 8mb cache
2 x 170g Western Digital 7200 rpm 4mb cache
LiteOn 52x24x52
Pioneer 16x DVD
Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum
Nvidia GeForce FX 5800 w/256mg DDR
Altec Lansing ADA995 Speaker system
Logitech MX700 Wireless Mouse
Logitech Wireless Navigator Keyboard
Removeable Hard Drive via firewire/usb, 80g maxtor w/ 4mg cache, 7200 rpm
Iomega ZIP 250
3 1/2in Floppy Drive (lol)
Linksys Wireless Ethernet (802.11G, 802.11B, 802.11A)
and Two Monitors
18' Sony LCD Flat Panel
22' NEC FE1250B Flat Screen Monitor
The only thing thats really missing (i think, let me know if you think anything else is needed) is a DVD burner, which you can probably get now for inbetween 200-300, shouldnt be so bad. Anyways, my point was that you would be getting RIPPED OFF!! For Godssakes, dont spend three thousand on an Alienware!! Its not worth it!! Build your own, customize it! |

OK maybe your right.
I was thinking the 3 gig pentium 4 processor was around $600 let alone the motherboard. The 9800 ATI is around $350 or $400.for those three items -over $1000 maybe $1200 -no?
Now I need a case, power supply ,DVD , 120g hard drive, sound system ,how about a writer,I'll throw in the CenDyne Lightning 52x24x52x around $50 soundblaster platinum, etc, etc.
can't be that much difference.
I have built a couple but not in the power gamer type pc.Just putting the parts in and turning them on is one thing but tweaking the bios and the rest of the system takes a little more know how.
I'm going to price up what I think is comparable and see what I get.
Thanks

I'd still have money left over for grilled cheese sandwiches with my best friend from elementary school at "that restaurant and ice cream place"
ahh...what a weekend that would be...money=easy come, easy go.
now get me that $3000!!!

*edit: before posting a question in the forum on "alienware" I decided to do a search...and felt the need to post a response to this thread. as was said in the first "Matrix" ... Agent Smith's question: "We'll need a search running"...another Agent's response: "it's already begun"
*end of edit

Build one is always better, since u can choose whatever u want and personaly I don't like the alianware, they are kinda too big how about try the shuttle computer, the sb65g2, sb75g2 will provides everything u need and its good for overclocking too

Hey, Terminal23, I'm wondering: did you ever go with Alienware or did you build yourself one? |
