Is my subwoofer too cold?

For the last 3 weeks or more, the subwoofer for my computers speakers has been cutting in and out, it will work real good one day, but the next I can barley hear it.

It seemed pretty random before, but I noticed the last 3 days that it worked, it was pretty warm in my room. Then today, I was disapointed to to find them not working again and its pretty chilly in my room today, not freezing but colder then usual.

I was just thinking maybe its too cold for it to work right, like some part inside isnt functioning, making it sound lower then its suppsed to.

Anyone here think its possible?

Thanks

Sounds more like a "cold solder joint" on the amplifier circuit board. One or more of the soldered connections on the circuit board didn't get hot enough during the initial assembly, and are weak. A change in room temperature of less than 10ºF can cause the connection to be either made or not.

Your best bet would be to take it to a qualified electronics repair shop to have the board checked and the weak solder joints fixed. Under a high power magnifying glass, the weak joints will show up.

Yeah, and I also heard it could be condensation causeing shorts, think that might apply?

I have a friend who has taken a couple of electronic courses, so I might have him look at it.

Thanks for the help

Have him go over the circuit board with a high power magnifying glass, paying special attention to where ever components or wires are soldered to the board. Cold solder joints show up as a faint dark ring around the lead that is soldered into the board.
