    Post POLL: Best Printer Brand?

What is your opinion on the best printer brand (inkjet printers especially). Which one do you use?

    *What I use/think*
I currently use a HP Deskjet 5550 and im pretty satisfied, although the ink cartidges are expensive, it gives me excellent photo quality images. I used to like Epson, but they seemed to last a short period of time. Lexmark I consider excellent, and the quality is good, but the ink cartidges are just too expensive. I havent actually tried Canon a lot, some of my friends swear by it. After hearing the catastrophy of the fake ink cartidges (especially epson) I decided to be aware of what I buy and where. As for laserjets, well I can say that my budget doesnt like them, although myself I consider them excellent. *No flamewars Please* just share your opinions/comments/experiences etc. Thanks for reading

I use a HP psc 750xi (printer/scanner/copier). Was fairly cheap (130 on sale at sam's club) and I think it has good quality images, especially for the money. The ink is fairly expensive at 35 color/20 black but the cartridges seem to last awhile.

I've also owned 2 epsons in the past and were pretty happy with those as well.

Can't vouch for Lexmark but I know people who have had em and liked em

I went through two Canon multifunction printers that didn't work out for me. They just seemed to die on me. I switched to HP and haven't looked back. The Canon's worked great, when they worked.

I now have an HP Deskjet 5550 and an HP 6110

    The high-end HPs are untouchable.
    The low-end HPs blow chunks.

We have many of both varieties at my work. The cheapies are constantly giving me problems, the expensive ones are nearly bullet proof.

So, for hi-end, I like the HPs.
For the low-end, our Brother set-ups do pretty well.

    edit:
This is my experience with LASER printer.
I have never had much luck with inkjets. IMO, inkjets generally suck, but if I had to get one, it would be an Epson...

For office type stuff, yeah they do. But if you want to print photos or photo-quality graphics then they rock. Kinda slow but worth it for the quality. Color Laserjet? They blow chunks at printing photo-quality images. The technology just doesn't lend itself well to the application.

I've been very happy with the hp printers i've owned, except for the computer that came with it
They have been very good for what i need to do, I've been impressed with lexmark, but i'll stick with an hp all in one that i got recently, they are a little pricey for the high quality ones, but that's fine as it's what i need.
Ahh just noticed the link above, like mine http://www.shopping.hp.com/cgi-bin/h...cfkmdfondfgf.0

epson..easy to find cheap ink..I dont have to wince when I hit the print button. So far I havent found the need to print anything that needs to rival a photograph.

Yes...which is why I threw in the edit, and a call out to Epson printers. We have dozens of printers at my job (which I am in charge of maintaining), and the Epson Inkjets give me the fewest problems of the inkjets, including photo prints.
But most of our printing if literally thousands of pages of text per week....and in those cases the HP laserjets rule....

Unfortunatly, DanGrease did not specify what type of printing he is planning on doing the most of...
If it's bulk text, HP laserjet.
It it's low-yield photo quality, Epson inkjet.

Epson for inkjet and HP for laser.

Lexmark's are inexpensive but the cartridges are very very expensive.

For photoquality printing you can't beat Epson or Canob.

other than the cost of INK!!! they are fine machines...

PS: cheapomans way of buying ink...go to walmart/kmart and buy those refill ink injector kits for 9.99. they do work.....
