Need Mouse Reccomendations
Well, I'm planning to buy a new mouse, seeing as how my mouse is completly incapable of moving quickly (I play CS, so not being able to 180 and twitch is really annoying). I've decided to come here for advice...
I was going to get the MX700 by Logitech, but my friends suggested some other mouses. Heres a list:
MX700 - Its 800 dpi, its wireless (which, in some cases, could be a bad thing), and its recharable (*curses at high battery prices*).
(I can get this mouse for 59.99 CDN - MSRP 99.99 CDN)
MX500 - Same as the 700, except its not wireless. My friend says wireless mouses sometimes "turn off" by themselves (which has never happened to me before on my old wireless mouse).
(59.99 CDN also)
Microsoft Intellimouse Optical - I was reccomended this mouse by my fried who currently owns this mouse. Apparntly its lighter, so when I play games I dont have to move around a giant 10 KG weight (exaggeration). I've tried this mouse at his house, and it is a good mouse. The question I have is: Is this mouse better then the logitech series?
Currently, I'm using an old Logitech optical, wired mouse (it looks like the MX500, except its the old kind with the weird colours.)
Any help is appreciated.

Well, I run Intellimice-meese-mouses...whatever
and I've never had a problem with them for gaming. The only thing I do know is that they cannot track extremely fast movement, but in my experiments, there is no way I'd move my wrist that fast anyway....so it's a mute point ( I'd end up with a sprained wrist if I could ).
My vote is for the Microsoft line, particularily the explorer because of the programability of the 4 mouse buttons.this post contains small bits of intelligence culminating to the appearance of wisdom.

WHat games do you play. For non-shooters, you dont have to move your mouse that fast, but for shooters, you have to get an advantage every way you can (which is why you need to jerk the mouse fast).

I've used nothing but the Intellimouse Explorer since it's release. I think they are great. Mostly because it fits my big ol' mit so well. I have had no problems with it's tracking any fast movements. I play alot of Counter Strike without any problems at all.
Unofficial TechIMO record holder for the number of times being added and removed from beemer's ignore list.

Although I havent had any personal experiances with em, every review Ive seen for cordless mice doesnt recommend it for gaming...
Just get yourself a nice optical mouse and you shouldnt have any problems

I'm using an MS Optical WheelMouse and really like it. I got a couple of them from BB for $8 after rebate and have had really good luck with them. It's a bit hard to get used to the in game "feel" of an Optical when playing a game like Quake3 after using a mechanical mouse for so long though. The mousewheel is really light to the touch though so you might want to try it out in the store first before you commit to getting one.

Those MX 300 and 500 series mice are pretty cool... but being left handed they are basically worthless to me. Discrimination!

it most definately HAS to be an optical mouse, no more gummed up rollers stunting your smooth moves. and although i'm not the greatest fan of ms software, the hardware IS good, comfy durable (ball) mice (i've not used an optical ms mouse yet) and the natural keyboard is great for typing comfort, but a little strange for games. the wireless mice i have tried (trust silverline and keyboard) seemed to have a very sharp range dropoff, so be aware this may be an issue for gaming with a sudden failure to respond to your movements. it is probably worth putting up with an occasional wire in the way rather than lose signal completely. those logitech mice do have the looks advantage over ms, though.

The Mx700 isn't for everyone...wireless mice aren't for everyone [yet].
I won't buy one because I don't want it to die in the middle of a LAN party

I got a MX700 with the keyboard (MxDuo) all for $70 on sale at Office Max a while back. I have never had any problems and the battery lasts a long time.

Well, I recently bought an IBM Mouse (Optical, Engine 800dpi) and I am loving it. Its cheap compared to the new Logitech's and Microsoft mouses and it works great for games. The really cool thing it has is its innovative scroll. Its not a wheel as the usual mouses, its sord of like a joystick which lets you scroll horizontally and vertically which is a great feature. If you are interested in more information bout this mouse, just PM me and I will happilly give you the info you need
I chose an other brand for my mouse since I was tired of the usual Microsoft and Logitech mouses and wanted to try something new, and I am happy I did.
