Comet Cursor is know spyware, and if I recall correctly, it can install itself without the users permission if the browser's ActiveX security settings allow your computer to automatically download ActiveX controls. I last got nailed by Comet Cursor in July when I was experimenting with my IE security setting and clicked on a seemingly harmless link in a Google search. I was mad enough to spit nails, as I'm sure you are now
The Comet Cursor uninstall option works fairly well, but even after uninstalling it, the AdAware spyware removal program still found 3 files that were related to the Comet spyware program.
I'm not sure if it's temporary or not, but I'm getting a dead link at the AdAware homepage? lavasoftusa.com
