started with a AMD K6 500 slot put all types of goodies into it. (this was the first attempt at building a computer) The system ran super unstable so it went the way of the window. (2 plus stories to the brick driveway below) Started on my second built from scratch system. got a ecs k7vta3 with a 1333 AMD didnt work. so I bought a gigabyte ga-7zm that too did not work. Burned the 1333 (ill fate of the beginner) did not put the cooling fan on got hot real quick and that is all she wrote. bought a 750 and ran it on the ecs but not fast enough. next step was to up the mb again to a epox 8kha+ and a 850 found out about overclocking. system runs good. so I am left with the 750 and the k7vta and I would like to overclock it but need help. the epox has all kinds of changable values in the bios to boost the system but the ecs does not. any suggestions?? |

I'm surprised they didn't move this or at least say it should be some where else. BUT I have a 166 that I run at 200 with no problems. |

Hey, I've got a 166mhz Pentium that sometimes makes my 466mhz Celeron look like a wuss. |

I'm still not sure how I posted this here but I must not have been paying attention. Do you know how to get this under the correct forum? |

Yep this is under the wrong one.. I'll see if I can message some of the mods to move it..
but as to running the k7vta like the epox board.. don't/Do Not flash the bios of the k7vta with the epox boards bios... Some Motherboards just are not as overclocking freindly as others are.. I've never used a ecs Motherboard before.. but I know the Epox board u have is a very good overclocker.. just don't get to caried away if your over clocking =)
Maybe when this post gets put in the correct forum the Oc'ers out there can tell you how good the ecs board can be overclocked..

Not going to over do it with my epox its my mainstay. had thought about the flash with epox on the ecs but realized it would not work. do you know of any sites that have bios downloads that can tweak mine or are there other ways to overclock with out using the bios? |

good thing u didn't.. that would have killed the MB if you would have been able to do it=)
As for a hacked Bios.. I don't know of any sites. but I can tell you this.. and do so at your own risk.. some MB still to today have jumpers.. and dipswitches on the MB where u can set the CPU speed voltage.. and so forth.. take a lookat the MB and see if it does.. read your MB handbook that came with the MB.. also be warned.. not all AMD chips like to be overclocked very high.. as I am not a overclocker myself, I cna not tell whihc are best.. for the chip you have.. I know a little about overclocking, and what not to do =) but not enough to advise a person in doing so.. So be carefull with the dip switches.. and voltage, and multiplier settings if you do have dipswitches and jumpers for setting these things yourself..
I have sent a message to have this thread moved.. so with hope it will be moved to the right thread.. or you can repost the question to the correct forum which I will list below.. and which will be the fastest way to get your questions answered.. as only ppl loking for deals on the net and local store deals come to this forum.. http://www.techimo.com/forum/f4/index.html
they deal with overclocking on the forum listed above.. |
