!!Desktop Screen disappears!!HELP!!

Hi,

Lately, my desktop and toolbar have been disappearing for like 5 seconds and then reappears but without NAV. This usually happens while Im in the internet ... internet works alright for awhile, but sometimes the screen will freeze up so I press CRTL +ALT+DELETE into Task Manager and it says that Internet Explorer is "not responding", so I will end the program and thats when I get a error log report from explorer asking if I want to send it or not. I never send it. That's when the screen will go blank and reappears a few seconds later without NAV.

I am currently using Windows XP, NAV, and Zone Alarm Pro 4.

I don't know why this is happening!! Could someone tell me if I should be worried?? Could this be a virus?? HELP!!!!

THANKS!!!

no need to worry. what is happenning is explorer.exe is closing and restarting. no big deal, happens all the time.

you can disable the error reporting prompt by right clicking on my computer, left click on properties, select the advanced tab, then click on the error reporting button. there you go

6'4 is right, your problem is that I.E. is crashing and taking Explorer with it.

Here are two suggestions:

1. Open "My Compter". Click on "Tools" - "Folder Options" - "View" - and check the box that says "Launch folder windows in a seperate process". Then restart your machine. This tweak will make IE and Explorer run seperately so when IE crashes it won't take Explorer with it. The only downside is that your computer will be using slightly more memory. Definitely worth it.

2. Ditch I.E. and get another browser.
