hmm..seems like that would be included IN w98.
What motherboard do you have..maybe it is asking for a motherboard driver.
Are you getting a pop up asking for drivers or what??

pci usb drivers should be on the motherboards driver disk. Pci USB is normally one of your on-board usb hubs

| er. um.. er.. um..
I have a VIA/AMD Chipset Mainboard V1. 47B-1R
at least.. that is what it says on the drivers CD. i've put in this CD, and i've tried to look for drivers.. maybe i'm doing something wrong?
thanks for the fast response!
in the meantime.. when i get the disk.. i'll try to reinstall some of the drivers. its weird that it is the only "?" other devices, where drivers aren't found when i installed the motherboard drivers and everything else was found. i just did this last weekend. I had to get a new motherboard so i could but more RAm in it so i could play Everquest faster.. but that really doesn't matter. =P |

I sure hope you guys will answer soon, because the drivers are NOT on that disk, and i've discovered that what it is is the front USB port on the front of the computer.. i don't really use that thing.. but i still want it to be able to work if i need it.

You have a question mark in the device manager? What is it beside? How do you know it is the front usb port?
What exactly does it say as the reason for the question mark? Does it say it needs a driver?
If its a via chip onthe motherboard..then thats easy..you download the newest "4in1" drivers from via's website. On of them will be a usb driver (I think) lol.
Does the rear usb work? Sometimes the fron tusb is a little hard to hook up cuz the motherboards dont all have the same exact pin order etc.
go here for the drivers http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=300 |

How did you "fix" your problem. It's helpful that you explain this to the ones that tried to help you. And, BTW, a problem with Universal Serial Bus it just that: it makes no difference if it's the front or the back ports, it's still the same bus.

I'm curious as to why you guys think the drivers for his PCI USB would be on his motherboard CD. That's like saying the drivers for my scanner should come with my video card - it makes no sense.
