I am building a computer for a student who wants to play The Sims Line of games, and do school related things such as office. I am wondering if the following would be enough power, or should I go with an Athlon to keep the costs down? I need rock solid stability.
Abit IS7
2.4C
GeForce2 MX200 32MB VRAM
512MB RAM
XP Home
400w power supply
80GB hdd |

Well, the question would be..whats the budget??
And that vid card looks really weak compared to the rest of the system....in that case a nforce2 with onboard vid would be better I think.

That, I can't answer for sure, they havn't really talked about that, just about that they need a computer, and I wanted to start pricing things up. As cheap as possible, but no too cheap. |

Or maybe consider a sff system..you know, the new small form factor comps? That'd be cool for a small dorm situation...then all the chicks would dig him!
(Unless it is a chick) lol |

in this case i would just get one of those $200 dells (they're P4s, not celeron). even those are quite an overkill for the sims and office, but with a deal like that, it's hard to pass it up. |
