pop ups

hi i have this advertising pop ups that keep commig up on my screen i go to search by date and delete all the cookies that came out around that time but it's no use they keep poping up. i know that it has to be some kind of file that trigers that pop up to come out. it seems that they r the same advertsing pop ups that keep coming up on my desk top. any ideas guys i had this problem before and i had no choice then to format my hard drive but i really don't wanna do that again it's too much trouble.. hope anyone out there can help.. thank you

of course my first thought was to tell you to install Linux right after you wiped your hard drive ....... but decided that the above link would probably be more useful

What kind of popups are they? Are they IE related or Messenger related?

IE related...get popup stopper here:

this is what is happening

ok guys i have nothing on my desktop and the pop ups just come out . the address is on the tool bar right on top of it and right after t that it saids internet explorer.

Can you take a screenshot and post it up for us to see?

Try the popup stopper, see if it works...

When you see the popup, press your 'Print Screen' key...then open Paint or another imaging program, and paste it in. Then save it as a .jpg, attach it to your next post.

i get some kinda movie preview playing on mine sometimes, no window, just this crazy sound for like a movie preview! ive run spybot adn ad aware weekly and it still happens, even with popup blockers and antivirus. i think im destined to hear this forever., it even gave be the bsod today!

this is what worked for me so far

ok i tried the Ad-aware and Spybot and fix autotomatic the only bad thing was that it made some changes on mt internet connection so i went and dns address and thats it so far (knock on wood) i haven;t seen no pop up. so thnaks alot guys for helping and hope this post will help other people that have the same problem i had.. thaks again guys
