Great effort! I might suggest 2 things. Well, 3.

First, it looks as though you have taken the "about me" section an resized it after creating it ( the font is out of wack). If you do not have the ability to create slices, I would try re-creating it to the actual size needed.

Second, maybe use a "mellower" blue, if that is the color you prefer. Experiment with an aqua blue, or even a very light blue. Go extreme at first, to see the difference. This will give your text more power.

Third, keep up the great work. I actually taught myself a few months ago, and now have 2 nice sites up. One is commercial, so I will not list it, but this is my second site. (fifth revision in 2 months)

The blue that is at the top of the mini poll would be a great color to use on the rest of the site.

well if you have no webspace why not try and setup your own webserver. the easiest way is to get Fireserv a package that has Mysql php perl and apache all in one. then all you do is click on a bat file to start the whole lot.

i use the beta version of fireserv. (it on there forums). currently im running it on a dedicated server on a celeron 333mhz pc. also on a 512kbs connection. so it might be a it slow for all you over the water.

I designed the layout from a template I found, added my own graphics, drop shadows, and text, repositioned some layers, deleted others, flattened the image, then sliced and converted it.

It is actually a very simple banner, composed of 7 layers

Though I do not work for this company any more, here is a link to a site that I worked on. I designed the template and with help from our "HEAD" webmaster, HERE is the end result.

ok...maybe not killin em... but it cant be good for ones ego.
granted he may be a punk kid with some time on his hands but do we have to chastise him for it? cut em some slack, he's learning html, and, for his age i think he's not doing that bad. i think we've all been in his position at some point in our lives. (showing enthusiasm for something we've just learned to do).

anyways, all i'm sayin' is: give the kid a break.

That yellow text is just a bit too bright...not so easy on the eyes.
In the game reviews area, dim that yellow box some...feels like I'm under a spotlight.

You can improve it, just make it a little more "eye friendly".
