OK Here's the deal I went out and picked up another DVD burner for my main box. I installed it without a hitch and windows(win2kpro) shows it in DM and it reads fine. My problem lies with the burning software. It won't show up as a burning device in nero or Sonic MyDVD. I did Sony's test drive and it came back fine. What could I be forgetting about to get Nero to see it as a burner drive? BTW I have 5.5.8 installed right now and probably a newer version here some where.

Update your Nero. It just doesn't have your drives info.

MDS,
Try downloading the Nero update to get to 5.5.10.54!!!! I just went thru what you did. Frustrating!!
When you get ready to burn it wants to burn just an image file to your hard drive, right??
Definitely upgrade to the 5.5.10.54 from the nero site & you'll be able to drop-menu to select your burner. Nero will give it a name like "ATAPI DVD burner". |

Have you tried contacting the vendor asking them what versions of the software should be used and such. Record Now MAX by Stomp software is a favorite burning app for DVD people. That may support your burner so its worth a look on google.

Don't do the Nero 6!! You'll have even more troubles there.
What you want is 5.5.10.54!!!!! If you have ANY version of 5.5 then the upgrade is available to you for free.
I had 5.5.10.4 and mine still wasn't recognized. Went to 5.5.10.54 and......voila!!! Done!! |
